Just buy the appropriate wide m43 lens if that's the case. Do you really need wider than 7mm? Panasonic's 7-14 should cover the wide end pretty nicely, right?
how about the tokina 11-16mm it would become a 30mm with the crop factor?

So close to standard (48mm) after crop. Still very fast for 24mm.Its a sigma 24mm f1.8 (nikon)- has a manual aperture. Surprisingly, its really sharp wide open, I use it on my 5D and the GH1.
It wouldn't "become" a 30mm anything. It would be equivalent to about a 13-19 zoom on a 35mm cinema camera.how about the tokina 11-16mm it would become a 30mm with the crop factor?
The answer is: it'll look very similar. It'll be a little bit longer; as Hunter said, the crop factor is 1.18 between the 7D and the AF100. So like I said, it isn't going to be anywhere near like 30mm! It'll be more like 13mm-19mm.well my question was really on how different would the tokina 11mm look on the af100 compared to how it looks on the 7d
Am I the only who thinks that 5D shooters are a bit obnoxious with the FOV conversion between full frame and u43?
Yes. Your current lenses will have a narrower FOV on u43. Deal with it.
If you've been shooting with 7D, T2i, 60D, GH1 or 99% of digital SLRs out there, the difference going to u43 is negligible: 1.25x. Just zoom out a bit, choose a lens a smidge wider, like 28mm instead of 35mm or take a few steps back. If you need a super wide lens, get the Panny 7-14... that's gonna look even wider than a 10-20mm on APS-C.
Are GH1 people trolling 5D forums whining about how their lenses look too wide on the 5D? That they can't find a 100mm 1.2 to replace their 50mm 1.2? See... it works both ways!
Sorry... it's just that every thread about the AF100 seems to always spiral down towards crop factor.
If at least the questions were formulated like this, I wouldn't find it as aggravating:
I love my 24-70 2.8 on my 5D. Is there a zoom with a similar range available for u43? (Yes there is).
Sorry for the rant.

RED PRO 18-85mm $9,975. Is this the best low cost cine style zoom lens?
I find it hard to beleive that Panasonic in conjunction with another lens manufacturer like leica, canon, fuji, etc cannot introduce a cine zoom lens at a moderate price.
Interesting. Those look almost exactly like the old RED zooms...

On their forum, RED said they have nothing to do with these...so I wonder what the deal is there.
I've always disliked the red zooms and proprimes... this really just supports that fishy feeling I had about the origin of the red lens series. EXACTLY like the red zooms.
