Let's talk batteries for the AF100...

i understand what you're saying but all those other things you list are optional extras - i feel all the manufacturers could step up a bit with this - supplying a battery that will only work for an hour or so on a pro piece of kit is selling the customer a bit short i feel - they know you are going to have to buy another battery off them strasight away - when the hmc151 came out the large battery was in short supply & very expensive - had to wait another 2 weeks before i could use the camera on a project where there was no power supply. Fortunately there are now much cheaper 3rd party options, but i dont think it is asking too much for a decent sized battery to come with the af101

Professional cameras don't come with batteries. It isn't an exception it's the norm.

Which batteries will work with the AF100 again. I know Barry posted it somewhere, but I can't seem to find the post. They are just HMC150 batteries?

Anything for with D-Tap for use with my nano and af-100? I use swit now for my ex1 and love them

Gonna hold off on the multi-charger for a bit, as I think I want to eventually get the 4x charger.

Where have you seen a four-bay charger? I can only find a two-bay IDX charger. FWIW I bought the genuine Panasonic 5400 batteries. Not keen on the eBay generics.

Looking for a AB mount that can power the camera and has a 4pin xlr out. Anyone got something?

Dolgin has a 4 bay don't they?

I haven't read really great reports about the Dolgin. But you could buy two 2-bay IDX chargers and still have $100 left over for accessories. Plus you could have one 2-day back in the studio permanently and take the other one out on location. I think the IDX is the go.

Normally I stay away from generic batteries, but in all the reading I've seen so far on these batteries, they've sounded pretty promising. We'll see. As for 4 way chargers, yep, the Dolgin was what I saw. Given that I have now seen the price again, yeah, I think I might get the 2-way for now :) With 2 2-ways, if one dies, the other will work still! :)

I have had the Dolgin 4 bay charger for years and it has been totally amazing. I plan on changing the plates to now charge the Af100.

Hey Noel- I've used this AB Pouch Style Gold Mount for the HPX170 and DVX for camera power and AB Ultralight:

You do have to put the batt in a pouch (I use Hytron 50s), but it's less weight on the cam.

But it looks like they don't make it for the HMC/AF100 mount.

So I'm thinking of getting a second HMC/AF100 AC Adapter/Charger (temporarily out of stock):
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/600008-REG/Panasonic_VW_AD20PPK_VW_AD20PPK_AC_Adapter.html
and taking the AC Adapter plate and splicing it on the AB Gold Mount wire, using the 2nd AC Adapter/Charger for charging batteries only and the one that comes with the AF100 for charging and AC. Hope that makes sense.

And here's AB Power Tap to 4 pin XLR:

Excellent groveChuck, I was looking at similar - but didnt occur to me at the time to look for dtap to 4 pin xlr adapter. Cheers.

Definitely. That's exactly the battery I've been using.

And your vendor is wrong, the AF100 package will include one of those batteries. Well, actually, I'm not 100% certain whether it'll be the big battery or the little battery, but it will include a battery, Jan's already said that. Battery and charger and AC adapter will be in the box.

It better be one of the big batteries or I'm going to be pissed. I don't really care about the 4:2:2 or some other things, but not giving a good battery would be stupid and irritating. I ordered 3 of the big batteries and it would be nice if all 4 were identical.

I am going to be using IDX V-mounts and AB Goldmouts on my AF100, I will post details once I have them set up.

Like many others I have lots of them, I use them on different cameras, StediCam, lights and I also use them on field monitors. So it makes the most sense to use all the same batteries. I will still have a few small batts for lean shooting. But these plates and stackable (IDX) batteries also are great for balancing a shoulder or StediCam rig.

They have been my main batteries for decades now, I see no reason to change. I already have an IDX plate with 7.2v as well as 12v output. They easily power the camera and NanoFlash as well as an on camera light and even wireless mics.
