Lenses for Alexa Mini LF

Up until this latest generation, the 'American Dream' has always been to own a home. Now I think it's to only have three instead of five roommates in your 800 sq ft apartment and an Instagram account with more than 10 followers. But gear vs. "other stuff" is kind of a catch 22, because you actually make money with gear. Yes, the house is more than likely going to appreciate, but can you afford to buy the house without owning gear to do the work? Let's say you buy(take out a mortgage for) a $250K house and when you decide to move in 5-7 years the houses value has gone up $50K and you've paid it down enough that you walk away with $100K to put towards your next house. Not bad. But say you bought a $50K camera instead and you're billing out $150K-$250K per year or more. There is a happy medium, but buy gear(within reason) first, then get the money rolling in to buy a house.

Haha yes this is true. I think it'll more likely be spreading equipment purchases on either side of a house, decided by priority. The $50K camera will come but it has to get in line just like everybody else!

Congrats on home ownership Eric. I may only own a C200, but I do own three houses, two paid off. IMHO, camera and lighting gear are a terrible investment compared to real estate, Especially in California.
In this state, you really only lose with real estate if you are dumb and buy at the top of the market or buy a bad property in a bad neighborhood. Or when the 9.0 earthquake hits and we're all hosed.

I laugh at the earthquake insurance offers they send out every year. The coverage is pretty expensive and anyone who buys those policies who thinks in a massive devastation of the Los Angeles basin with an 8.5 or 9.0 quake that the insurance underwriters will
retain enough solvency to pay off any of those policies will be in a for rude surprise. It will take trillions of dollars that nobody has when that quake hits. Albert Brooks first novel, "2030: The Real Story of What Happens to America" is based exactly on that premise.

Of course, the policy could be handy in a smaller quake with much more centralized and confined damage.

Images from today with the Canon 17-120 that arrived today from Newsguy. I shot these without lens support so ya'll were wrong about the 17-120 needing lens support as the mounts were not stressed at all.

Images captured with a Canon 60D; the 17-120 and EF mount is plenty strong to handle the weight of a 60D. :)

Pre-pro stills on the fly for an upcoming short film I'm DPing.

So, he's talking about 8K, a resolution that ARRI cameras currently don't have. The ALEV sensor is a decade old and its time may be coming to an end in all its iterations. including LF and 65.

Of course they do, they made a statement before the Mini LF release that the new 4K S35 sensor coming in 2020. I thought you were talking about another higher res sensor.

I’ve been told by my rep that it has been pushed to 2021, now.

That's because the LF's are selling like hotcakes. Netflix approved. Amazon/DisneyApple+/HBO/Hulu/Peacock approved. Deakins approved. ARRI priced it fifty grand too low.

Your rep was right, I just read this in the Newsshooter Mini LF review:
"You might have also heard that ARRI is making an S35 4K camera. In order to implement additional ALEXA Mini LF features and to deliver software updates for their existing customers, the launch of the S35 4K camera will not take place in 2020, as originally announced."
