Lens Whacking a FS100?

I have an "artsy" shoot coming up with a ballet dancer soon and I want to incorporate some lens whacking. I've had good luck with whacking on a Canon dslr (60D) with a Nikon to eos adapter but I was trying with one of the FS100s and a novaflex adapter and........I don't know. Seems like the novaflex adapter is sooo long and "tubelike" I have to pull the glass overly far from the adapter to let in enough light to get the flares, etc, that I end up with stuff that's wayyy to out of focus.
Certainly not getting the results I wanted. Anyone have any luck with this kind of deal?

I'm thinking I might just take off the novaflex adapter and get some kind of cardboard "paper towel" tube cut to the same length (or slightly shorter) and drill some holes in it that I can cover with my fingers......I don't know. Just throwin it out there to see if anyone has had better luck than I.

I should say that I've gotten some great stuff with the dslr whacking (much the way blooms site says to) but, with the FS100 it gets too far out of focus before you start getting the light streaks. More testing to do before the shoot......

One of the tricks with adaptable cameras like m43 and E is that you leave the adapter on the lens, and work the loose joint between the camera and adapter; otherwise, the adapter works like a hood or flag and makes the efforts well nigh impossible.

Or, you can just work any old lens without an adapter and get mad flaring and light spill all over the place.
