Lens Question

Hey guys. I have a question regarding lens that can be mount on Nikon. I am new to Nikon and have decided to buy the D7100. Went today to check out the market. Didnt cash on me or else would have bought it. Well, I am going to go in a few days to get one. My question is that what lenses can you mount on Nikon F mount without using adapters with glass? And I am not asking about Tokinas and Tamrons and Vivitars etc. I mean lens with other mounting systems. I know Leica R can be mounted. What else? I would prefer prime lens.
 
The Nikon F mount with its 46.5mm flange distance is great for operating Nikon lenses on other systems, but not very good for the camera body being compatible
with other systems. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flange_focal_distance for a list of camera mounts and their flange distances. You might be able to use the
Contax/Yashica lenses on the D7100 since it's a DX crop. There are adapters for that, but I'm not sure if they will focus to infinity without some builtin optics.
 
There is so much Nikon glass out there that will work on the 7100. If you don't want to use an adapter, you're realistically pretty limited to glass in the Nikon F mount. I've heard c-mount can go to Nikon - but it would require an adapter.

Leica R can be mounted to Nikon F - it requires (as I understand it) sending the lens to a specialty shop to have a new mount installed. Why that would be preferable to an "adapter" (since it's more like a semi-permanent adapter) is something I'd question...

Or you do want to use an adapter? Then the answer is still somewhat limited - Canon's (by comparison) recent EOS shallow flange means you can stick all kinds of stuff on it. Nikon's mount goes back to the 60's when cameras were big steel boxes. Unless you own a lens you really, really want on a Nikon body, it seems you're making things more complex than they need be?
 
Thanks Samuel. As soon as I am going to get the camera which is on Monday, Im going to test your Flaat settings. Any D7100 + flaat tests? How does it do?
