Lens question...

It's an awesome lens, but honestly $500 sounds cheap to me, almost suspiciously cheap......I usually see these go for $600 if not retail price. I could be wrong though
 
hmm maybe it has changed since I last looked. They may have been fairly sold out at that point which would have accounted for that.
 
it's a great lens

when I was trying to buy mine, it was out of stock at nearly every etailer, including bhphoto and all the amazon dealers, and it remained so for a couple of weeks; the result: it was selling for $700 or more on ebay :o

luckily I was fast enough to get mine at bhphoto when it suddenly appeared as in stock at bhphoto, and then out of stock again in a matter of hours

the stocking problems continue, so the lens definitely has great resell value; if the lens is in good condition, I understand how he may not want to sell it at a lower price
