Lens mount sizes....will any 72mm threaded lens work on a dvx?

Just ordered the camera from full compass which pretty much blew my expendable income for a while. I see the panasonic branded 0.8x wide angle is about $400, the century optics even more.

There are plenty of (safe to assume lower end) wide angles out there for much cheaper that state what seems to the be the same 72mm interface. Is it safe to assume these will fit and work?

I don't mind spending more at a later date for better glass but at this point I'd rather play with the camera and get the shots I'm looking to do. My question is can I do it with these other 72mm cheapos?

thanks!

Fit, yes. Work? No. If you're talking about the "Crystal Optics" or "Digital Optics" or "Crystal Vision" so-called "lenses", they perform hideously poor with the DVX.

Remember, you rarely get what you pay for, and you never get what you don't pay for.

In the five and a half years that the DVX has been on the market, I can only really think of four lens manufacturers that have made quality wide-angle or tele lenses for it: Century (but not the 0.7x), Panasonic, 16x9 Inc., and Red Eye.

Fit, yes. But they will look like fat old lady butt (I dont know what that looks like, a friend told me:violin:)

Lol, thats true.

Cable: I would reccomend to stay away from massa, unless its just a strait UV filter. there polarizers suck.

what about filters? Are there brands to stay away from or to draw to?
B+W makes some of the best filters you can get, if you're looking at anything other than a UV filter they'd be the way to go in my opinion.
as for a UV filter / lens protector, im pretty sure you can't really loose quality if you get one of the cheaper ones unless its covered in dust, dirt, and/or fingerprints.
