C100: Lens for the C100 - advice

Ok, so I'm going to spring for the C100 to replace my HMC40 before the rebate expires in June. I think it will be a nice main cam for our commercial work and for weddings with the 550D as B Cam.
Anyhow, the lenses I have now are the Sigma 30mm 1.4, Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC, and the Canon 70-200 2.8 IS.
Would this be a pretty good multicam setup with this camera? I was thinking the Tamron would spend most of the time on the C100.
Only other option would be to get the 24-105 kit and sell the Tamron since I won't need the 2.8 as much with the increased low light performance of the C100.
Tamron is still fairly new to me, used it a few times, but I do hate the reverse ring direction, and the reverse focus/zoom placement on it.
Going to eventually get some Rokinon cine primes, but at the moment it's not in the budget.
Also, just sold my Tokinon 11-16, as I really didn't use it much.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

The Canon 25-105 F4 gets a lot of thumbs up on this forum for use with the C100. It's very flexible length wise and F4 is good enough for this camera as you say. The only thing holding me back is the lack of width (24mm x 1.5 crop factor).

I currently run a Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 VC 2 which is great and a little wider at 17mm. The niggleing thought is its not an L lens. The image quality from my 70-200 F4 L is incredible to my eyes in comparison.

A good fish eye like the Tokina 11-16 is also something worth considering...

Not terribly interested in the fisheye yet. I was very underwhelmed with the shots I've taken with my tokina, soft wide open, I found at least. Anyone here used the Tamron 24-70 with the C100?

Would any of you buy the kit package and keep the 24-105 and sell the Tamron? That's what I'm planning on doing I think. I don't think I'll need the 24-70 with the low light capabilities of the C100

- Also, would you consider as essential for the camera? I've added 2x 128GB SD Cards that I'm going to run at the same time, one for backup ( I lost some footage at my last wedding - that will never happen again if I can help it ), also the extended battery.
Anything else you can think of? I have an external monitor already, not sure if I'll use it, and if I do, it will be in a studio setup, so I would probably just throw it on top of the shoe. Is there an eyepiece or loupe solution yet that is affordable? ( a few hundred at most )
Thanks, getting excited!

Hi. The 24-105 1:4 L IS USM works very well on C100. It's super sharp on full HD from F4 to F11 at least, I have seen no vigneting even with disabled correction and it's wide enough for most situations, decent tele on the other side. So I would definitely buy the kit. On the other side I would keep the Tamron for the case I will need narrower DOF.

Do you use your 70-200 2.8 IS a lot?
Can be used for documentaries and travel (weight and size) or a 70-20 f/4 is better?

I went for the 2.8. Possibly because I'm a ponce, but also I knew that I'd be forever kicking myself for not going for the "proper" lens (my parentheses - as I said, I'm a ponce. It gets me into all sorts of trouble.)

If I'd followed everyone else's advice, I'd be financially better off with a lighter lens that's reputed to be just as sharp as the 2.8. What's not to like?

But deep down...

I know they're all wrong...

:-)

Ben.

I have the Tamron 24-70.. It's fantastic on the C100.. My copy is as sharp as fook too for stills!!.. And VC is silent.. Unbelievably silent..

My 70-200 f4 is sharper than my partners IS f2.8 version. Pound for pound and $ for $ the f4 is no joke. But if you "need" IS, then go for the 2.8 although there is an F4 IS. The thing I like about my F4 is that its compact compared to the 2.8 and I use it on a tripod or a monopod anyway when filming.

Thanks all. Ordering my C100 today with the kit lens, 2x 128GB cards ( going to run one as a backup ) , and the extended battery. The kit lens will pair nicely with my 70-200 2.8 and the sigma 30mm. The next two lenses I believe will be the 100mm macro ( with IS ), and when samyang releases it's 16mm, I'll probably snag that, and work my way up their cine prime lineup as time goes by.

Does anyone know if the 70-200 f2.8 can be mounted on the C100 without rails? Also, what do you guys think is the 'real world use' max weight for lenses without support on the C100?

I mounted mine on last night without the tripod collar, on the C100 to do some tests. It seemed stable, although the heavy lens did make the tripod head sink down more than usual, so I had to really tighten it up.
