When using a lens filter, is it necessary to remove the lens hood before installing the filter?

It is not necessary to remove the hood as long as your filter size is small enough. Just bear in-mind that you may need to remove the filter again if you want to put the lens cap back on depending on filter width.

I personally use the Xume attachment system and leave the base ring in-place. It can be left on the lens and the lens cap still fits in place. Then, remove the lens cap, snap your filter (or filters) of choice into place magnetically and BOOM! You're off and running!

There are two tiny screws on the hood attachment. Remove those, twist the hood, and place your filter onto the front of the lens.
