AC130: Lens creeping with zoom demand plugged in.

I have the AC130 and I noticed last week the lens started to zoom in, on it's own. I zoomed back out and all was ok. I use a Varizoom VZ-DVR130
Now this past weekend I taped a 1.5 hour performance and I was constantly seeing it creep in/zoom in. I'd pull out and wamm it starts zooming in again.
When I am not recording. I have tried to duplicate it, but had difficulty to get it to act up. Seems strange it will only happen while recording.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

I will have to test it, later, without the zoom demand.

check your Varizoom I have experienced this with my HVX 200 it is the zoom controller not the camera

Part of the problem with the Panny cameras since the DVX... the remote protocol uses analog resistance, rather than a digital protocol like LANC, and it seems to vary a bit between cameras and controllers. I have some remotes that work fine with some cameras, and creep or are uneven on others. Being an analog signal measurement, it might be that extra power drain of recording influences the system somewhat.

The VariZoom rockers can be "tuned" to a specific camera, which helps a lot... see their instructions. I'm not sure other controllers allow this.

Fixed - called varizoom and they were very helpful, on getting it adjusted, over the phone. 30 second adjustment is all it took. (I still need to test it - I'll report back if the problem still exists)
