Lens Compatibility with t3i vs 60D

So I was talking to some people a while back, and they were saying that the t3i looks weird with some lenses compared to the 60D (when doing photography).

I really only do video so I wasn't sure, but that just sounds wrong to me. The t3i / 60D are both crop (not full frame). So any lens used on them should act the same. Am I wrong in thinking this or is there some special interaction with lenses and the t3i/60D that I don't know about.

Not only are they both 1.6x crop sensors, but they are actually the very same sensor. And the image processing is the same too. If configured the same way, the image should be completely identical.

I have both cameras and there is no difference in the lens mounts.

Unfortunately although I like the 600D as a b-cam to the 60D there turns out to be one critical missing feature.
I set up the 2 cameras on one rig to shoot 2 camera interviews A-B roll. I started the 2 cams at the same time and was
amazed they were actually in sync from the first frame of the files. Just luck but right on the frame.
The problem is
I noticed a difference in color temperature right from the start. When I went in the menu of the 600D I discovered there
is NO manual white balance control. Unless there is a utility than can be added, the color will have to be matched in post.

The color actually looked better white balanced than the setting on the 60D, but not manually adjustable.
The 3X crop is worth it to own the 600D for that alone.

The camera is very light for travel and being able to triple the view
of a much faster short lens is nothing less than amazing. I can see why Canon removed it from updated models like the T4i.
If you already have a 70-200 f2.8 than you would never have to buy a 110-600mm 2.8 even if one exisisted.

Yes, and it doesn't have a wheel to change aperture either, you have to go button-combo, which sucks. And the bigger body of the 60D is nicer to hold. But that's about it, if you set both cameras to daylight the image will be the same.

I know you know that, but: if you want to have kelvin white balance on the rebel, ML will give it to you. And a live histogram and waveform, focus peaking, zoom-in while recording for focus, custom cropmarks...

I did just discover the icons for various lighting conditions in photo mode. Tungsten, daylight etc. I guess i should read the manual after all.

Emmm... well, yes, you should!
You also have the custom setting for taking a pic of a white card and using that to define white (that's my preferred method, even for cameras that have K adjustment: the white card thing no only adjusts K, but also the green-magenta tint). It will not only match your cameras, but your lenses and filters too. Way better than trying to eye-ball these two adjustments.

BTW: nice new avatar pic... you shot that, or you drove that?

When all else fails read the instructions. I opened the manual and found out about the Q button on the right to adjust the white balance but I didn't know about the white card ability which is great. The camera doesn't say white card just says example. This is really a nice little camera to carry around.
The avatar shot is from my latest project. I was hired to shoot the Asia Cup Series 2013 in Malaysia. You can follow it on the You Tube channel. @ asiacupseries channel on You Tube. I just shot the first 3 races last weekend and have about 10 video clips up so far. It's not an easy assignment because i'm working alone and have to make my way from the start at the end of the straight to the podium in 22 minutes shooting a few corners along the way. I also have to switch from super telephoto at the opening to mic mixer shots at the end. This was a bit rough getting the system down but the next event in Aug I should be better prepared. I have the 60D and 600D mounted on a bridge plate on one tripod to shoot 2 cam interviews. The 60D has the jucedlink mixer and the 600D is the close up cam.
I got the 600D for the 3x crop and it works very well.

^ Congrats on that job. It sounds absolutely exhausting, but if you like formula cars (as I do) it must be a lot of fun!
