T2i Lens clicking sound

I wanted to get DSLR experience so I bought a T2i off eBay. The listing says it's brand new and it does look like it hasn't been used. I attached the kit lens and I noticed that there is a clicking sound when I zoom in/out. This doesn't seem normal at all but I can't figure out what it is or how to fix it. I searched online but haven't found any answers. Again, I'm inexperienced when it comes to DSLRs so I'm hoping the good folks here at DVXUser could help me out.

I got the body only model so I haven't used the kit lens myself but I think what you're experiencing is the aperture closing down as you go through the zoom range. Does the picture get darker as you do this?

Thanks for the quick reply, Chris. Tried it out again and to be more specific, the clicking sound happens when I zoom out. It does this no matter what mode I am using. I can't say the the picture gets darker exactly, but it does kind of "flicker" along with the clicking sound.

When I bought this it did come with an extra telephoto lens which I haven't tested. (I was planning on reselling it so I'd like to keep the lens in new/unboxed condition) Should I try it with another lens..?

Thanks Shigeta. I recorded the clicking (video below) and sent it to a photographer friend of mine. He said the same thing you guys did but recommended to send it to service. It doesn't affect picture quality, but it is quite annoying. And the sound is loud enough that the camera picks it up.

no that is completely normal, i'm sure most of the cheap kit lens do that. You can send it in and see if they give you a new one but i'm pretty sure you're gonna get the same thing.

solution? Invest in a better lens.

Perfectly normal, If you zoom with a lens that does not have a constant aperture you will hear that noise. Also these are photo lenses and not meant to zoom during shots, hence the reason people modify their cameras to be able to use cine lenses.
