GH13 Lens advice for shoot

Hi all,

Finalizing the prep for a music video shoot. Two of the location setups are interiors - one a bedroom the other a dressing room. Both will be lit by very strong sunlight (the rooms have very good sun exposure) which we'll diffuse as necessary with white sheeting over the windows.

Am looking to get some nice low DOF to go for an intimate and heightened sense of detail on the actors. Not all coverage will be like this, but for some of it we'd really like isolate the actors in the space and get nice bokeh and blurring of the surrounding set.

Obviously the GH1 kit lens (14-140) is not the lens for the job. In tests, I've only been able to get that kind of look by using some degree of zoom. This is not ideal because it means I can only get that intimate look on CUs and BCUs.. when we go to wide shots, the focus is pretty flat and even.

I'm looking at a lens hire for that shoot day. Options are a Voitlander Nokton f0.95 or just a standard Panny pancake 20mm f1.7. The price difference in renting either is negligible. So I'm wondering which is better for the job. Given that I have no experience with either of these lenses, the risk is wasting a lot of time getting up to speed with them and finding the desired look. Any opinion on which lens would be the safer bet? I'd be also getting a fader ND as part of the hire, so it won't be a problem to use them fully open for maximum reduced DOF effect as needed. The temptation with the Nokton would be to head out to the streets with the actors after the interiors are done, since we may as well try to get some great looking twilight and/or night stuff as well while we have the lens.

Thoughts?

No ideas anyone? The reason I'm thinking of just going with the Panny pancake 20mm is that it still goes down to f1.7, so I figure in daylight interior conditions I'll still be able to shoot completely open aperture and get that low DOF I want. The Nokton is tempting as it might be even better and produce more interesting results, but I get the feeling it's more of an exotic specialized lens, so I'm concerned that I might have a hard time getting to know how to get the looks I want out of it in only one day of hire..
