Lens Adapters for A1?

Does anyone have any advice on different adapters/lens' for the canon xh a1? I've seen a lot of footage shot with alternative lens' and they look great! Maybe you guys could lead me to a thread or give me a little crash course in this area.

Are any of these compatible with the HVX? I'm thinking about upgrading to this camera in the future.

Thanks!

they are all compatible with both the xh a1 and the hvx200.

I would strongly recommend you wait around until the blade is out. It will have many of the features lacking in the current, lower cost, adapters available in the market.

But if it doesn't suit your budget, you have the fantastic Letus Extreme. The lowest light loss adapter out there with the sharpest image.

Then there is the SG pro, with the most film like bokeh in it's class with a slight bit more light loss

Then the Brevis, which is unique in it's ability to swap in and out different diffusion elements as you need, some with more and less light loss with the tradeoff of sharpness and bokeh quality.

What type of work are you shooting? Do you need to have control over your 35mm depth of field? Without a fast rotating GG, you need to keep your 35mm lens at F4-F5.6 maximum, Any more closed and you will have very visible GG.

Shutter speed? Do you shoot high shutter? This is another issue.

What do you need in an adapter. With that information we can help you figure out what is best for your needs.

Haha I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for. Let me get this straight since I am new with this part. Having a different lens attached will only change the depth of field? And like you said it will also give the footage more of a film look?

I shoot a lot of freelance work in hip hop (behind the scene's for photo shoots, events & interviews). For most of this work I need to be moving around a lot so would it even be practical to have a different lens?

I also shoot sketch comedy shorts which are well planned productions. In these videos I think I would most benefit in having an adapted lens.

With what I have gathered it looks like the Letus Extreme is the best fit for what I'm looking for. Is this link what I'm looking for?

From here I need to get the lens that I want right? With this Letus Extreme can I only get a 35mm lens to attach?

Sorry for all the questions!! I just want to make sure I'm putting my money into the right equipment.

For the hip hop, behind the scenes stuff, i'm not sure an adapter is really what you want.

Remember, by the time you strap the adapter on your camera, zoom in to fill the screen with the ground glass, and put a 35mm lens on there, you will be losing in total 2 stops of light.

The hvx on it's own already needs quite a bit of light to get a nice image. Just something to think about

Get ready to learn how to really light for your sketch comedies.

yes, you attach 35mm lenses to that adapter. Depending on which mount you buy, you will need to purchase lenses that accommodate that mount type.

Also, once you get the letus extreme, remember that you lose that type of run and gun shooting. It adds a good 3 pounds to your rig. You will also need a rail system to support it's weight so that it's not being held by the front of your camera threads.
