I know not much about lenses but I see everybody talking about Leica without mentioning model numbers. I was looking at Leica lenses and came across one that is affordable to me and seems to meet my requirements, the elmar-m 18 mm.

But I can't figure out myself how this 18 mm compares to the 14 mm mode of the 14 - 140 mm kit lens. Could someone pls explain this to me? As I understood correctly, 14mm of the Panasonic kit lens is comparable to 28mm on a 35mm camera, how do I convert the Leica values to 35 mm camera?

Also, this lens will fit on the GH1 when using the Panasonic Leica adapter, is that correct?

And will auto-exposure and auto-focus work with this combo? I don't really mind if it will not.

Focal length is the same always - what changes with sensor size is the field of view so set the kit lens to 18 mm and you see what you will see with that one.
