Hi
Newbie questions, can't seem to find a definitive answer on the forums - so please forgive any repetition.
I have a couple of lenses for my Leica and wondered...

Q. Is there a way of mounting M-mount lenses to a FS100? Or recommended adapters?

Q. Are there any set backs with focusing etc?

There seems to be adapters for Leica M to Sony E-mount on ebay and these adapters usually works fine when it comes to focusing. Quality on the other hand can be good or bad if you look upon the mechanics.

From what I understand from a bit of web research, the M-mount wideangle lenses can be a problem when the rear element protrudes back (into the camera) from the lens flange. The issue is that the light coming out of the lens is hitting the edges of the sensor at a very shallow angle. With film this is no issue, but for electronic sensors, and their microlenses etc., it causes severe problems. See for example: http://www.kenrockwell.com/voigtlander/index.htm
 
I use a Leica R to Sony emount adapter and it works fine with my Leica R Lenses
and the FS100, I dont know about Leica M though as my lenses are Leica R.
I can tell you this the lenses are as sharp as zeiss, and produce a better looking
image in my opinion

That was why it took nikon years to go to a FullFrame digital stills camera

Its worth checking this out but I think it is less of an issue with S35 sized chips - where a lense like an 18 is not that wide

I've also used m mount (and m39 mount) lenses without any issue. They look great, obviously a bit fiddly on a video camera. I've not seen any corner smearing or colour shifts even with a 12mm prime. I've a variety of adapters including a hawks helicoid one, that allows closer focus with m mount lenses (i have an f1.1 Nokton which is lovely, especially when close focused)

I forgot to say before that I used Leica Summilux-M 35 mm f/1.4 ASPH. and Leica APO-Summicron-M 90 mm f/2 ASPH. Both performed flawlessly.
