I just received my latest lens today for my GH4, the Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 ASPH Power OIS that is one of the sharpest lenses tested on Lenstip . It is the fastest lens made with OIS and should be great for handheld 4K low light shots with shallow DOF since it's sharp wide open .

The resolution test of the Leica DG Nocticron 42.5 mm f/1.2 Asph. P.O.I.S. was based on RAW files from the Olympus E-PL1. In the case of that body the highest results, reached by the best fixed focus lenses, amount to about 80 lpmm (and the record value of 82.6 lpmm belongs to the Voigtlander 0.95/25, with the Olympus 1.8/75 not far behind). The decency level is set near 44-45 lpmm.

Looking forward to some samples :)

Make sure to post up some of the hand held footage when you get a chance. I'm curious if the OIS really works for hand held video. I can't imagine that it could at that focal length on this crop factor in 4K. Oh, would I love to be proved wrong.

Cheers,
Pete

Here is some handheld 4K footage taken with the GH4 + Nocticron, exploring the OIS and DOF. Done at dusk with an .8 ND filter, shutter-priority mode:

The Nocticron Lens Belongs in a Museum

In museums light is the enemy of artifacts, so they are dark. Perfect for a fast f1.2 lens. Handheld to test the OIS. Close-ups to test the bokeh and focus.
Dinosaurs, dioramas, lizards, lectures, gemstones, mummies, and even a ghost. Plus a trip to the museum store.
Shutter-priority at 1/60th.
