C300: LED Lighting Flicker - what do you use?

Hi all

Editing some footage from a live music performance. They were using LED lighting, and even at 24p I'm getting that really annoying flicker effect. I know a few plugins exist to correct this, I'm curious what you guys are actually using? Ideally something that works with recent versions of Premiere Pro.

Thanks!

Sean

I also tried a couple a year ago or so....

I actually wanted to avoid FlickerFree due to their abysmal web page, demo material and so on.... But in the end FlickerFree was the product that delivered best results by a comfortable margin.

It was a clunky process – frustrating at times – but I ended up with a clean 4k file without noticeable resolution loss and no disturbing smearing. And if you've got problematic footage and end up with clean files you tend to swallow much of the frustration. There are presets, but I think I needed to customise it at the end. I also think it's one of those plugins that you need to set at its highest quality setting and just leave it alone to do its thing. I rendered out new "masters" of my de-flickered clips and then used them in the edit. It's not a plugin you want to have running life in your timeline.

I wish someone bought that plugin and cleaned up everything about it. I see it used in highest end productions too. There arn't that many alternatives.

I was using it in FCPX. That might also be a factor in terms of end result.

Thanks guys! I'm trying out both.. Flicker Free so far is doing a decent job, but I need to do more adjusting with the settings. Will give De Flicker a shot as well.

Any specific advice for problematic LED lights?

No advice, no - because the problem is quickly getting worse and worse as all sorts of new LED light products come to market.
And of course none of them show the issues to the naked eye.

Very frustrating.
I have taken to automatically bringing every single light fixture with me that I possibly can.
