Leaked pics of Canon 60D.

it will be more expensive than 550d but could be cheaper than 7d , its between them but more towards 7d price when it was released.

Probably close to where the 50D was when it came out (Allowing for inflation and currency fluctuations). I have a feeling this isn't the muttered about video-optimised DSLR that was on CR. The sensor is too high in resolution for easy down-res for 1080p, also the button allocation on the back isn't really optimised for video, as there isn't a "big red button" put a dual-purpose live-view / movie button.

What I would like to see is a FF 25+ mp sensor that windows to a s35 sized 3840x2160 area that could (relatively) easily go to 1080p.

Im torn with my 550d and the upcomings cams :p
Shud i stick with it or upgrade hahaha
Maybe try to earn back my 600 bucks then sell it for 500

I'm staying positive about this one until proven otherwise.

When the 7d came out I loved it's specs.
When the t2i came out I loved it, especially it's price point.

No reason so far to suspect that the new canon DSLR will be a dud

If it's more of the same - then it's a Dud in my eyes.

Highly unlikely it will go backwards in terms of image quality...the question is...Will it move forward or be the same?

The xxD series fall between the xxxD "entry level" and the xD Pro-ish level cams (1-series full pro 5/7D second string / serious amateur level).
Therefore I would doubt that the video quality would be significantly better than the 7D, especially as the gossip says the same sensor.
Come on Canon, prove me wrong!

Do you think this will be the first Canon to use a DIGIC 5 processor? Maybe that's what "optimised for video" could mean.

I think that even if the video quality isn't improved, the addition of the articulating screen is huge. But definitely hoping for improved video quality that's a preview at the amazing video that the 5D mkIII might offer.

Sounds like alot of wasted pixels to me. I'd rather less density with larger photosites, like the Nikon D3s. Either way, I doubt this model will offer anything too crazy, seeing as it is an enthusiasts camera and they won't want to lose sales to photographers who care nothing for video features.

Ooh new 60D and new Nikon and new Sony's out soon, exciting times.

Doubt any of them will bring anything new to the DSLR game, I'd be very surprised if the aliasing is fixed.

My thoughts were to that many 'togs want full-frame, high pixel counts, but for video that may have too shallow a DoF.

By windowing a larger, high pixel count sensor you cater to both needs.

When is this coming out? Will I be kicking myself for buying a T2i last week?

Will the price point be more comparable to 7D or T2i?

I just bought a t2i also (JUST bought it, it's on the way)... but at the price I don't think you'll have any regrets. Just LOOKING at the size of that thing it isn't going to be in the t2i price-range... it looks like a 7D with fewer buttons on back and articulating LCD. I'll bet it costs nearly the same as a 7D. From what I've seen the physical size of a canon is a good judge of the price-point... that's not to say you don't get other things for the money... but it's definitely big cam = bigger price. If that guy doesn't have tiny hands then the 60D is at least as big as a 7D.

Sears had t2i body-only for as low as $684 on sale... this new cam will probably be 2-point-something times that.

I suspect that optimized for video will include better heat management (the bumped out LCD area accommodates something, either internal heat-management or other things you'd call me crazy for speculating), no implied time-restrictions, and yes, addressing the aliasing and moire since they could probably simply "tweak" some internal parts while totally revamping the firmware... ala' GH1 hack-style.

If they do all that... look out.

Just speculating. From the shape of the body it is remotely possible that this will be Canon's first DSLR with an electronic viewfinder instead of a mirror reflex. That would go a long way towards "optimizing" for video IMO.

That was what I was thinking when I said "other things you'd call me crazy for speculating"... because of the bumped out LCD area... which is in line with the mount. I wonder what the extra depth is for? Simply streamlining the edges of the flip-out LCD, buttons behind the LCD, heat management inside the cam, or some other reason the cam needed extra depth through that area? (separate "hybrid" modes for stills or video with mirror lock-up).

I suspect it's just ergo + heat... but we're on the same page in speculating.

I wonder how that button arrangement will work for general photography use. I love the fact that if I do actually need to go into a menu on my 7D when shooting stills, I can have my right thumb on the wheel and my left thumb on the buttons on the back left for lightning-speed adjustments.

I wonder if the same speed is possible with just your right hand doing everything.
