I Placed a order for the LCDVF on Dec. 3, 2009, for the people who have it, how long did it take for them to contact you to let you know it has been shipped?, or that its not in stock?

Best to hang out on the CInema5D boards for more on this: the guy that makes them is a bit of a character.... he'll fill your order when he gets around to it! The units are apprently of high quality, but the supply chain is a little unpredicatble ;-)

I got both the Z-finder and the LCDVF (for test purposes on 2 Canon 7d bodies).

The good news: the LCDVF is as good as the Z-finder at a friction of a price!

Next week I am filming 3 days in the desert and both viewfinders will work hard...

Conclusions when I am back.

Thanks.

I received mine within a week. Granted, I live in Europe - which makes shipping from Estonia a little bit easier. He was very communicative, so I'm wondering why people would say he is a bit of a character? I know he has had problems with his paypal shopping cart, but he did present me with an alternative method and shipped promptly.

On a sidenote: The LCDVF is outstanding! Very high quality, and the 2x (who would need more?) magnification makes you dizzy while walking around.

What I'm wondering is why people are always using their right eye while looking into viewfinders? I use my left eye, which makes focusing easier for me. Anybody can tell me why it would be better with the other eye?

It allows you to look forward with the other eye, so you can see things other than what is in the view finder, I am a news shooter so I need to see what is going on at all times,
and it stop you from getting dizzy.

Haha :) Well I thought so ... but it felt strange in my personal situation. And keeping both eyes open doesn't feel strange to you?

I ordered an LCDVF for my second 7D body. He shipped it 3 weeks after the order was placed after telling me twice that it was going to ship. At least its of decent quality.

It's an old ENG technique so that you maintain the big picture of what's going on around you. A binocular version defeats the purpose of training yourself to keep both eyes open. If you're looking into the viewfinder with your dominant eye (google dominant eye if you don't know which of your eyes is dominant...Hint: It's the eye you aim a gun with.) then it's an easy technique to use and doesn't feel "strange" at all.
