LCDVF ordered from JAG35.COM problem

I recently ordered and received the LCDVF viewfinder for my Canon 7d. It came with 2 magnet frames that stick onto the 7D with some kind of adhesive, but both of them peeled off and won't stick anymore. I contacted Jag35, but they claimed that it was uncommon (why did it come with TWO magnet frames then?) and now say that they don't have any replacements for them.

Has anyone else had this issue? And can anyone recommend a safe but strong type of adhesive I can get from the hardware store to stick the magnet frame back unto the camera? Thanks.

Wish I could help you there. Try contacting the LCDVF guy himself - you can buy additional frames - look in the FAQ section. My first frame has been on my camera for months and shows no sign of coming off.
Did you stick yours on as per instructions?

Same here. I'm considering a spot of superglue in the corners just to keep the frame on at this point.

Methinks they need to find a better adhesive.

i left my lcdvf on overnight and it peeled the frame off with it's weight. Now I always keep it seperate when not in use.
You can buy 3M VHB tape and use a scalpel and cut it to fit your frame. That will basically never come off. Otherwise just get the tape that they use, 3M 300LSE type double tape and scalpel it to fit.

just use the 3m 2 sided tape just trim it without getting your fingers on the sticky parts . i have had mine for months and it seems rock solid.

also make sure the glass is clean and after you stick it on keep a little weight on it and leave it over night.

Thanks for all the input. For a second the customer service at JAG35.COM had me believing that I was the only one who had the issue.

Will try the double sided 3M tape tonight.

Did the double sided tape work? I just bought one and had the same problem with the first frame I tried. Left the LCDVF on overnight and the frame came off.

Just contact customer service at lcdvf, they got back with me in less than a day and they are addressing the problem by making a stronger adhesive for future models.

so will they be sending you a new frame?
Toenis has addressed this problem on the cinema 5d forums saying "Please contact us via support(at)lcdvf.com with all your purchase details and shipping address so all the issues could be solved as soon as possible."

He also mentioned that they have isolated the problem down to a batch of frames that had something to do with the paint on the frame, so I've contacted him and am expecting my replacement.

For those of you considering tape. Try using carpet tape. It is cheap, double sided, thin, and super sticky.

You can also buy a roll of sticky backed magnet from the hardware store. It cuts with scissors. About 10' for 3 bucks.

If you need to get it off for any reason, heat it with a hairdryer, and it will pull off.

I bought 3m double sided tape and cut with a razor blade. Didn't work. I didn't see a model number on the tape. It just said permanent double sided tape. My cousin also suggested carpet tape, so I'm trying that next.

did anyone of you have problems - or is worrying about - the magnets, mounted permanently to the camera?
In the user guide from LCDVF i've read something like "never leave your lcdvf mounted over night, because the magnets could cause damage to your camera ....".

so i'm worrying about the permanent magnetic field on the camera - otherwise i'd like to buy one too, because it's much cheaper than the z-finder (which has a new mounting technique now - seems really nive, no glue...)
