Lcd Vs. Viewfinder

On the dvx100b i get completely different colors from my viewfinder than my lcd. My viewfinder colors seem more solid and more effective but my lcd doesnt. What should i depend on?

neither. Go to the display setup, hook your cam up to an external monitor or TV, and adjust the LCD/EVF settings till there all matching.

in general, the viewfinder will be more accurate than the LCD when it comes to making settings, but as dory said, you should calibrate them to match something that you know for a fact gives a very flat image.

Thats a good point too. The VF isnt so good for focusing or anything but actually is great for when your rolling .

I'm filming skateboarding and i won't have an lcd or something of that sort on the spot. I guess i will go with the viewfinder for now. There is also velcro under my handle is that for the mic holder?

No dude you just print out a color chart and zoom in on that with both your LCD and EVF on. Then you plug the camera into a TV and adjust the settings till you get them to all match. After that you dont adjust them anymore.

DSA, do you have a book (manual) that came with your camera? If you don't you can go to the Panasonic web site and download it. I'm new to the dxv 100b myself. I've read the manual and Barry Green's book (buy it!) You can answer your question yourself by doing some reading.
