What im really interested in would be the difference between the GH2 LCD and the newer OLED equipped GH3.
Do you find you need an external monitor for pulling focus? Or is the OLED enough in a "pinch".
Basically im looking for a SUPER RUN and GUN setup... and so far, i can do a focus pull decently with the GH2. Would you consider the OLED HUGE step up from the GH2?
Basically, im SUPER happy with me GH2. But some of the new features of the upgraded codec and the OLED have my interest on the GH3.
To my eyes the difference in GH2 and GH3 LCD/LED panel is like SD vs HD. I found using a loupe on the GH2 hard do to the seeing pixels do to the low res GH2 screen. GH3 is much better.
Well, thank you both for your insights.
Yea, i kinda figured that the OLED higher resolution lends well to focusing. Being brighter as well would mean better vision outside in sunlight.
The screen size of course would be a factor in pulling focus, but I think the "crisper" resolve helps a bit with pulling focus.
So ill probably upgrade first to the GH3, then spring for a decent Monitor.
My vision is pretty good, but I find the softer screen of the GH2 its hard to nail the focus. Its also a debate on how long the GH2 will keep up with the newer crop of cameras, or go ahead and invest in the next generation.
You can see in my video, im hitting the focus but often overshooting just a hair. Mostly the sun flare shots with a Nikon 35mm f2.
