LCD & Viewfinder resolutions

Title says it all.
I've read a LOT of the forum today, but the resolutions are either missed or it's not posted. Anyone know those specs?

Also, I went onto Panasonics website and loaded the brochure. It's still the silk covered one. Is there a PDF file that's updated?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah,... I've been really curious about the rez of these and what the icon layout looks like. I'd love to see a (black & white line) cage generator for both 1.85 & 2.39 in both LCDs so we can frame without making all these mickey mouse attachments.

The PDF file on the Pana site has a pic with the thumbnails laid out. Looks nice with time code under each, about a dozen across the LCD. What they also show are how the ergonomics of the diopter, the LCD & simply looking ahead at your subject can be accomplished at the same time...nice design victory for that one!

Pixel counts were not released for the LCD or viewfinder, other than to say that they're not HD LCDs (which, of course, would cost a fortune and would be so dim as to be unusable).

They do offer a pixel-accurate "focus assist" function which extracts the central portion of the frame and displays it pixel-for-pixel directly on the LCD, which should let you get pinpoint focus. And it works in both standby and record modes too!

10s? was that a frameline generator you were just asking for?
That would rock!
Image, shoot ing 1080p, but with framelines in place for 720.. youd get a nice 720p cropped image, but with the benefits of seeing "past" your image.. maybe even have it do that but only record the 720p to save on bandwidth. - thoughts?

Mikko,

Good idea. With so much talk about being able to shoot 720 and crop/reframe for SD in post
no-one has really brought up the idea of shooting 1080 and doing a crop/frame to 720 for
deciding the "perfect" framing later on and still remaining in HD. That is a good idea.

Hell, I'd love it [even more] if you could optionally set it to always display the whole 1080 image when recording 720 (or SD...), esp as a Steadicam op, it's really nice to know EXACTLY when that light stand/mic boom/etc... is about to enter the shot.

- Would be nice if you could also send this 'supersized' image out of the outputs too for say the boom op to have a monitor..

- Mikko.

Ok.. so here's to dreaming..

Here's an example of what i think woudl be a GREAT monitor set up:
We are shooting 720p at variable framerates beeing recorded to P2 at 720p.
The viewfinder would have a 1080 image with framelines at the 720 frame, for the operator.
The LCD would have "focus assist" on and be folded back that extra distance so the Focus Puller can see it.
The composite/s-video outputs would be sending 1080 with 720framelines for the boom op so he could have his mic as close as possible. (Would double for the Steadicam/crane op with his/her SD monitor and your Transmitter for the Dir.)
The component output would of course send out beautifull 720p for the DP.

How's that sound for a set up?

- Mikko.

Yes, that's what I'm after, A cage generator for framing, 1.85 & 2.39 both in black & white lines for contrasting against the visual image.

It's a simple item but often overlooked and it causes lots of problems down stream. Why not nip it in the bud? I doubt this request will be heard in time or understood, but for those of us that shoot we know it makes a big difference.
