C100: LCD Really Blue?

I was shooting some interviews yesterday and had a calibrated Vx7i Ikan Monitor on set. It became immediately apparent that the LCD is really blue tinted and there are not any good tools in the LCD menu to calibrate.

Have any of you C100 owners found a good workaround? I took the files into my edit system and reviewed the files on a few different monitors - all of them showed the Canon as looking extremely blue.

Not sure that it would matter but I'm using the CowPunk Scene Files.

that's some pretty strange idea. the lcd would loose brightness and you might get a pretty specular surface.
but why not, try out. i would start with like 1/8 cto

I notice the same thing and can be kind of irritating at times. Instead of adjusting color temp to the look I want, I basically have to do it by what I think the kelvin should be. EVF is a little more accurate for color I've noticed recently. Look at EVF for color, then the LCD for critical focus and waveform.

At NAB I was at the Zacuto booth checking out shoulder rigs. When I tried one with a C100 on it, I noticed the same issue. The guy working the booth said it was the cam and not their VF. After fiddling with the cam for a bit it was clear that the C100 is a bit strange. None of the other Canon camera's they had mounted up had that issue.

Cheers,
Pete

I have very few things I've found that I don't like about the C100. Like any camera, there is a bit of a learning curve and dealing with little things. Overall, I wouldn't have purchased a different camera if I could have gone back.

I love my C100 but it is definitely a design flaw. To those saying judge by kelvins to the eye... that is risky business without an accurate frame of reference. This is a very annoying aspect of this camera hopefully they address it at some point. Especially since they took the Vectorscope out that is in the C300.

I've been shooting with a SmallHD DP4. Even after calibrating the DP4 with the C100 color bars, it still reads pretty warm. When I look at the files on my broadcast monitor, I find the "truth" lies somewhere in between the DP4 and the C100's display. Kinda, sorta. So when I'm shooting I try to bear that in mind. It really is most annoying to not have an adjustment for the LCD, makes fine tuning white balance impossible.

It can be a little blue, just a bit, I agree, the auto K. setting working great though, I do check with it's setting occasionally. Having external monitor may greatly help on commercial work.
