GH2 LCD issue - changes colors after recording

Hey guys, i´m new here and i recently bought new gh2 but i´m very unhappy about two things - at first what is wrong with lcd? I mean lcd color issue when you start recording and color setting is different than before recording. This is pretty unbelievable and annoying problem. And second thing is iso issue - iso 640 looks worst than iso 2500 in lowlight. Do you know something about this problems or have some tips how to "repair" this issues? :undecided Many thanks

LCD color is a known issue, just deal with it. Shoot a sample shot to set up your light and color, or learn the difference and work with it. Not ideal, but you get what you paid for. Alexa doesn't have this issue, but it has a nastier price tag.

For the low light, I have not notices, alsoI always try to stay on the full stops ISO (like on canon cameras) Easy on the GH2 as they are all on the middle line. on the screen.
Don't use 640, use 800 and close or add a ND.

How bad do you mean?
I've not seen the GH2 screen, I know its the same resolution, but is it any different to the GH1?
I have noticed a colour shift (green to magenta) when I start recording on my GH1, but it's so, so tiny that I've never considered it an issue at all. Overall I've found both the LCD and EVF to be very accurate and well-matched.

The live view is shown in different color space then when recording. Hence the change. See the histogram and you can see it change from 0-255 to 16-235.

You can adjust the colours of the lcd screen in one of the setup menus (setup>monitor>display) so it's a matter of getting those colours to match the colours you're seeing and also adjust the recording white balance to match what you're seeing - if you get those two adjustments close the recorded output will than have the same, (or very close to the same), colours and look correct on the lcd .

if i change colours of lcd it will change colors after recording too (on display). this is even worse because colors are different now from the reality in both cases. unbelievable bug...

It is annoying, They figured out how to keep the lcd and recording on vhs the same back in 1982, why can't they keep it the same in 2011. rediculous

It's not a bug and not hard to fix. As I posted on the other related thread, first set color mode to standard, set white balance, then adjust the lcd color to match the colors you're actually seeing off-camera. If you then change color modes sure the color will change which is useful for effect but if you keep it on standard it looks real-life on both lcd & playback - no complaints here, works well for me.

ok but you need to flat and little bit desaturate picture when recording for better color grading in post. i want to set everything as i want. canon is MUCH better in this btw. actually gh2 is better only with sharpness and moire & antialiasing. everything else has canon better or equal

There is a known bug when dialing in ISO's. Always make a higher ISO setting, and then back down to the ISO you want. This is confirmed with ISO 320 and 640. You have to remember doing this every time you set ISO, also when the camera is shut off and restarted.

We don't know why, but it produces a lot more noise if this isn't done. Maybe just the upper line of ISOs this applies to? 160, 320, 640 etc. Just flip down a line to say; 800 and then back down (up) to 640 and it will produce less noise (noticeable such).

Weird bug. Hope they fix it with the new firmware.

You can test this yourselves by recording clips with the lid on.

So, it does better in every way associated with resolving motion or patterns... other than that, they're equal? :lipsrseal
