T2i LCD accurate for video?

Is it just me, or have you found the T2i/550D LCD (shaded for 6:9 video) produces a video composition slightly different from the live view monitor? This came about when I was composing a shot with the camera on the tripod and immediately played back the take on the camera. The playback showed a little more to the bottom of the image than what I see with the live view. Strange.

Not strange at all. The LCD is a GUIDE, for composition, color, and brightness. It is not calibrated, nor should it be considered accurate. This is as true on the T2i as it is any camcorder LCD. Leave room to slightly re-crop in post.

Thanks Perrone. Most camcorders I've had were not accurate compositionally, and when I first started DSLR video with the GH1, that viewfinder seemed quite accurate (but I suppose it's not a SLR design!). Just because a DSLR is quite accurate for stills, I guess I took it for granted it might be the same for video.

Regarding exposure guidelines, I find that having the camera LCD brightness set to 7 (the brightest), my exposures that look good on the camera LCD look good when viewed on a LCD TV and computer LCD monitor. When the camera LCD brightness was set to the middle (the default), exposures that looked ok on the camera LCD looked too light when viewed later on the TV or Computer. Anyone else agree or disagree with that experience?

I'm very different. My t2i settings for LCD are one click down from the middle.
I don't have the cam with me but I think the middle might be 4 in which case my camera is on 3.

I have found this is the closest brightness setting to the same media after it is in prores 4444
on a calibrated monitor
