Latest Short Film shot with XH-A1

Nice job! I think the text and the music selection work very well, and some of the shots (like the opening shot) are very nice. I think it communicates very well about this mental health issue.

However, I think that it becomes too repetitive after a few days. And when it switched to counting months I was sorely tempted to stop watching, which is a shame because near the end you start mixing up your shots more. The shot from the porch to the front gate is just used too often, IMHO. A shot I also thought was missing (since you start on his shoes) was a tracking shot of his steps down the path faltering and then stopping, then falling to knees.

I'm curious about why only the center of the frame is in focus. Was this intentional? I didn't notice it at first, but as more and more of the action occurred in the out-of-focus area, it started to pull me out of the short.

Overall, I think you've done a nice treatment, and with a bit of tightening, you could really make this shine.
Just my $.02.

Thank you so much for your input. VERY helpful!

I agree entirely about getting repetitive, and I really appreciate the idea for the shots of the steps/walking from the low angle.

I'm gonna go shoot them and re-edit.

Truth is I shot all of the interior shots last year (had to even switch back to some old glasses to shoot the outside shots) and shot all of the outdoor shots in one afternoon to beat the deadline.

It was probably nothing short of laziness and lack of creativity to do the repitition of the from behind walking shot.

As to the out of focus thing, I hope to get a 35mm adapter some day, and for now it was my attempt at simulating depth of field using Magic Bullet. Perhaps only on the close-up shots then?

Thanks for the shot ideas, the kind remarks and your time for checking it out.

Shorten the leader, the white black thing. It takes to much time and pretends something that is not there, No Black White art. You need to 'grab' the viewer at once.
