Large-DV tape...

Hi,

I have a movie that's 187 mins long and am looking for DV/DVCAM tapes to print the master on.

Given the size of the movie, my options are kind-of limited, but I was thinking of this tape:

Has anyone used this tape before? I wanted to print as DVCAM (the movie was shot on SD with the DVX100) but I can't find DVCAM tapes that are more than 184 mins long, so I'm forced to print out as DV.

Either way, any other recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

Kunal.

This is a larger format tape, not a standard miniDV. Do you have a deck that will accept this?

Why is the movie so long?

How about just outputting a DV-AVI and archiving it on external portable hard drive?

Well, the movie's long for a lot of reasons :). We should have a website for it by this weekend (which I'll post here) and that should shed some light on the unusually long duration.

I don't have a deck that would play this tape, but the theater where we'll be premiering has one. The main reason why I'm getting this tape is for archival purposes. Outputting to an external hard drive is a good alternative suggestion...

Either roll out to multiple tapes.

Or, better yet:
Buy one of those 184min DVCAM tapes, and record regular DV to it (it's the same signal & picture quality!) and you'll have 276mins (4h36m) of recording time.
You'll need a deck that can handle full size DV tapes like a Sony DSR-11/-25/-45, etc..
