laguna beach parody

i did this for my friend's Group Communications class.

They had to do a community service project, and they wanted me to make the intro like the MTV show Laguna beach.

It was certainly a learning experience trying to imitate the actual show! :cheesy:
did it all in vegas 5.

Don't know anything about the show you're parodying, but you did a great job in editing, looks professional.

Nice work. some of the cuts were a little too quick for me. It has been a while since I have seen the intro though so you may be on par with what they did. Near the beginning and middle some of the nature shots fly by real quick but they have dissolves inbetween which is kinda .... eh. Overall I liked it and the editing was good and I think you got what you were looking for. Nice job. I would just CC it to match the show now.

Very professional looking. My only complaint is that the indoor close-ups look washed out and when you split the screen they really stick out like a sore thumb.

That's awesome, why does the real one seem soooo much longer. You should send them yours! I think you might have to make the shots a bit softer. On the shows I can't really tell one person from another.

well done. The outdoor shots look really nice. The indoor stuff isn't as pretty but I imagine you were without the necessary equipment.

nice.

thanks for replies!
yeah i hate the indoor shots too. it was really dark in there.

I wish I could make it look how it does on my tv. soo much better!
I still have lots to learn.

since i'm such a noob, i'm not sure what compositing is, but I'm pretty sure you mean like the effects/transitions? did it all in vegas 5 (venetian blind transition, with some cookie cutter action)

My friend told me the class was amazed and they laughed a lot, so overall it was a success. I wish I could have sat it on the class to hear some comments, but that's what I have you guys for, right?

in this case you didnt need to do a composite, you pulled it off with stock Vegas! It looked real good, and here I thought you were slaving over After Effects. Vegas' venitian blinds, whouda thunkit.

top notch, tj. Seeing that this was a project for a friend, I'm curious as to how long it took you to do the whole thing... It really looks great.

great job, agree that the washed out images kind of took away from it, but you really captured that "laguna beach" feel and the last shot looked beautiful.

haha that was perfect. hahaha

Yeah, it really looked almost like the show did. The only difference I can see is that you guys talked to the camera/looked at it, and those people on LB don't.

Well, that, and you guys look like you have personalities. The people on LB don't.

I live around La Mesa too. It gets really boring over here. Nothing to do but see movies. Or maybe I'm just missing something.

Those are old stomping grounds and where I met my wife!

Nice job! Looks very pro!

Make sure you check your levels as some of the clips appear off; especially onthe split screens. Most imporant is making your blacks not only at proper levels but matching all the way through!

Nice job!!

La mesa; the city of my birth! heh heh

heh, mr hudson, i gotta represent the 619!

spencer where about do you live? and you're bored? go make some films!

funny thing about this is La Mesa isn't really next to a beach at all...most of this was filmed at balboa park and PB:evil:

I live around the El Cajon/La Mesa border. The only cool thing around here is the movies.

PB and Balboa are pretty far away from me.

And yes, I am making movies. But not with a nice camera like yours
