you can definitely use that adapter on a DSLR. theres a nice thread with info and footage about it here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=200843
since the adapters threads are very recessed the easiest way to fit it onto lenses is by taking the glass out of a 72mm UV filter and using that to grip onto the adapter, then you can use any step up rings you like to grab onto the threads on the back of the modified UV filter.
