That's the problem--the medium is NOT the message. You're trying to sell the product because of what it was recorded with. How about this, here are some of my favorite films, films that I have watched dozens and dozens of times starting almost 50 years ago.
"Battleground"
"Roman Holiday"
"Twelve O'Clock High"
"On The Beach"
What do these films have in common? It's not Gregory Peck, although he is maybe my favorite actor. All of these films are in black and white.
You don't even need COLOR to have a great and timeless film. Today everyone talks about hardware and resolution as if this new technology is important. Guess what? It isn't. You don't even need color or high resolution. That's my point.
When you see video today it is obvious as in, it was shot using digital technology and the images were digitally altered up one side and down the next. It's gimics and splash but it employs lots of people and sells lots of hardware. But I'm convinced that it's a fad just like bad fashion ideas from the sixties.
Although abrahms chose to shoot Star Wars on film i think al else being the same, lighting, acting, post production, etc. it would have been just as successful if shot on almost any high end camera.
