I dont have the budget to buy 2 lens so I was wondering which one of this 2 lenses is the more polyvalent.

I shoot many kind of videos, night and day.

Thx all,

No fair using a Scrabble word to tease answers from the hive brain.

Kit lens is okay but not spectacular, and it's not terribly fast. The 20mm is the stuff of legends. Sharp, fast, a must-have.

I've never heard anybody complain they should've gotten the kit lens instead of the pancake, and I've heard plenty of the reverse.

Well... no one likes a pedant. But neither lens will be polyvalent at all since they are neither vaccines nor atoms.

Anyways.... you really would be better with both... but if i had to choose.... the kit lens is SO crippled in low light and banding is SUCH a pain in the arse with poor exposures / high ISO's.... I would buy the pancake and use my feet as the zoom. You are compromising on the wide angles though....

Amen to both...but I'd have to go for the 14-140 if it came down to a choice and could only buy one lens. Yes, it's slow. But it is much more versatile than the 20mm in terms of focal length, and having O.I.S, which is a big deal unless the majority of your shots are stabiliized. It's also smooth and silent in operation. Plus, for a time at least, it should have great resale value due to the anticipated demand for it for use with the AF100.

thx for your replys.

thx for your replys.

I think i ll go for the 20mm because i have a lot of shots to do at night.
My only concern now is about this sound that the lens make... Will i hear it with a mic like the ROde NTG-2 ?

Considering the 20mm is cheaper than the 14-140mm, would you have enough left to add some other primes to the 20mm to cover the range? The old Nikons or Canons can be had very cheap, like the 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm lenses.

Instead of the f5.6ish 14-140mm kit lens, I gladly paid the extra bucks for the Olympus 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 Mark II. While it's not as fast and lightweight as the Lumix 20mm, the Olympus is far more flexible than either of the Panasonic lens.
