Well it was a good experience. This was the first time I had a casting call where I was the director. I was either a PA or guy behind the camera. We had about 10 people show up, so I have buku options. Which is what you want. We had two people show up right at the end, so we tried to work with one guy and the poor fellow did his audition in the lobby. I suppose my advice is to put a 30 min buffer at the end. As our location closed right at 4 pm and we advertised the call until 4 pm.

This is how I ran it...whether good, bad, indifferent. I told them what it was for (dvxuser), I was up front about the pay, I ask them about themselves to put them at ease a bit. We did one cold reading. I then gave direction, we did another reading. And if needed I did one more reading with small adjustments. I thanked them for their time and told them when I would send out the selection notice.

It was a very productive day.

The one amazing thing is 95% of the people said they saw the notice on craigslist and 5% facebook acting groups. I talked to the university theater department, the local acting school, the 5 talent agencies in town and got no one from those sources.

Yeah, the one time I've used Craigslist, I got some good bites. I usually use a lot of college theatre students, but I always ask them personally to audition. They're usually very busy, but if you ask them face to face or in a direct email, they'll generally say yes. That probably goes for anyone, actually, as everyone likes to feel like you specifically want to see THEM.

Screen grabs are up.

So after rain in the morning, sun in the afternoon, running out of P2 space with no place to dump it, the sound on the HVX200 just magically stop working then started working. My scheduled 9 hour shoot with lunch break turned into an 11 hour shoot. But it's in the can.
