Just recently picked up a 1dc - I asked this forum about which EVF to get.
I went with the Kinotehnik LCD VFE and boy I'm glad I did.
Besides the obvious crop marks, different levels of peaking and colors, the histogram, the underexposure settings and everything else - there are 3 main reasons I'd suggest this EVF:

1. It mounts tightly to your hotshoe, and can slide left or right pretty easily; basically 3 inches from the left to 3 to the right of the top of your shoe and anywhere in between. 15mm rods.

2. It is very light with excellent 4 AA batteries. Also an optional remote to control it.

3. Here's why I'm posting this - there are several ZOOM options. What I did was set the left button to preset 1, down to preset 2, right to preset 3 (up for me toggles the focus assist on / off as well as under/over exposure). Center button is the zoom. Now, I modified each profile too - profile 1 is a 2x zoom, profile 2 is 1:1, profile 3 is 1:4. So I can quickly punch in 3 different level of magnification (actually 4 - no zoom) WHILE recording. Focus and exposure (with C-log) are the 2 challenges I'm trying to overcome with this camera, and this EVF has significantly helped with both.

Just thought I'd share my experience.
