Hi, I've been hanging out for some time now but not long enough to view all the threads. It has been informative, educational and more often than not really entertaining. Since today is the big day of the HVX's release, I wonder if anyone has seen or heard of this (http://www.kinetta.com/download/files/kinetta-camera-brochure.pdf)?

What might your opinions be? Is it real? Do you think when it's release next Jan I might compete with the HVX?

Or is it just more vapourware?

Looking forward to hearing your opinions.

Kindest Regards to all

The Kinetta will compete with the HVX in the same way the Viper does.

It won't. It's a different machine for a different level of production. Now perhaps and andromeda HVX...

I've been keeping my eye on the Kinetta for a LONG time now... Nothing new since the pdf brochure was released on their website. I really would love to see some footage from that thing.

The Kinetta has been around for a while(2 years?) but hasn't gone on sale yet. It's a higher-end system, although I think it is possible that it is more affordable than something like a Viper. Last thing I read, they are waiting on Altasens to deliver sensors.

I got to play with it last NAB, it's totally awesome. I think Jeff took all the features that everybody is screaming for in a single camera, and imeplemented every single one, in a beautiful and ingenius package. The question is, will the image quality warrant the price tag. The camera has so many cool features and interfaces, i'm wondering if they won't drive the price too high.

I did hear that he is doing something to increase dynamic range(at last! somebody cares!) so if he is successfull, i don't doubt the image quality will be superb, whether it has a gazillion pixels or not.

We'll see! :)

Yep... Ironically, Altasens, is the same company JVC has been waiting on to deliver sensors for their 2/3" HDV camera.

Jeff, the dude behind the Kinetta, is a really good guy. He makes a variety of other products (a film recorder & scanner I believe) - it's just a shame that the Kinetta has been held up on these sensors.
