"KILL ME" - My latest little film.

Re: "KILL ME" - My latest little film.

:)

Ok. Let me try to explain! haha

So we see the guy fall dead at the beginning right? So the audience wonders, "how did he just die?"

Then, we see both of them (quick flashback I guess) but you think the guy on his knees is supposed to be shot and killed but the guy with the gun misses, and it hits those things behind him, and the guy on on his knees takes that opportunity to kill him too. He lunges forward and and takes the gun and shoots him twice - the same as the beginning but we see this time how it happened!

Haha. I know... it's only 1:11 but hey, that's all I could do! I wasn't really aiming for any story really because I could only use 8 lines of short dialogue! I just wanted to make it look cool :) haha! I can't wait for this to be screened in the little film theater room in two weeks here at VFS!

Oh yeah, and for the bullet (held with a needle), I shot that infront of my computer screen which I captured a bluescreen color image and filled up my 21" screen. Then I extracted each frame out to erase the needle holding the little bullet and reimported it back into the program as an animated picture sequence and composited it. Similarly, the fire extinquishers that are knocked over by the bullet, I filmed that with someone yanking a white piece of tape wrapped around it to make it fall over. I extracted each frame and digital removed the white tape, to make it appear as if all that was knocked over by the bullet.

Norm,

I really like your jumpcut freeze frames. I liked the extreme green from the gels and the piece had an anime quality about it. Great job with the sound. You're visuals are good but your sound really took it to the next level. Sweet job.

haha, I get it now.:) I didn't even notice the bullet the first time I watched it (cause bullets move fast y'know ;)). Nice touch.

Re: "KILL ME" - My latest little film.

yeah I watched house of the dead last night.. I loved some of the stuff they did in it with bullets.

Re: "KILL ME" - My latest little film.

Still think this was a cool little flik. But while were on the subject of the story/storytelling:

Before I knew what the story was, I thought he missed on purpose because he just couldn't bring himself to kill the guy for personal reasons (ie. he's his brother or friend, etc.). I also thought the guy on his knees wanted to be killed because he said "there's no time, you have to do it" and "quit asking questions and just do it".

I didn't think he missed by accident because he had him at point blank range. If you were going for a missed shot, I'd have had the guy on the floor jump up at him first to startle him, then show the shot go wild, the guy takes his gun then shoots him with his own gun.

I also didn't get that this was "watching what just happened as a flashback". You can still correct this by time re-mapping the opening scene a bit. After our gun weilding perp's dead body hits the floor as it stands in the beginning, stay on him for a beat or two), time re-map in reverse, then continue that reverse course through the pan over the boxes and foreground elements you had in the establishing shot. Then just have the footage work forward from there like you have it now. I think that would clarify the flashback feeling.

...ahem... just some, uhhh suggestions :) Of course, hind site is 20/20 and you did do this in a VERY short period of time. ;D

Re: "KILL ME" - My latest little film.

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but above links are broken? Have the clips been moved to another place? Where can I download them?

Thanks in advance

Fidel.

Re: "KILL ME" - My latest little film.

it looks like the bandwidth of the server has been exceeded.

Re: "KILL ME" - My latest little film.

awesome norm! question...is the horizontal banding due to compression or is this on the original footage as well?
