I agree that no one should have to ask Michael, but Kholi is speaking from experience in light of past drama and avoiding future drama. Also it's nice to know before your write a thoughtful essay that the effort is at least appreciated / welcome.
Sucks to write something long and thoughtful and have it not even acknowledged by the filmmaker or have them get all up in your grill about it.

Yeah, the intent is never to destroy or degrade, only to offer an honest opinion and hopefully generate thoughts for the future. I'd be FINE with someone passing over it, but when it gets personal that's when I start backing off.

Who wouldn't, but you would thank him for the review and consider his critiques carefully on your next outing or in the editing room if any of it's fixable now ...
