Fortunately it hit the tires about a foot and a half to the left. I moved down the track only to have a rear tire fly past my head after another crash. That missed by 10 feet. Who would have thought at a go kart race.

This thread you started seem like a good one post videos of shooters in near misses or actual hits.
A friend DoP from Denmark was hurt when they were doing a pilot for a motorcycle show. In the end of this clip you will see a photo taken by an assistant just before the cycle hit him.

It's something to really think about. You can get seriously hurt when things go wrong in one second.
