JVC tapes or kill the thin wallet?

Hi guys, it's the guy who always fails to rtfm again

Now I just got my dvx100e back from cleaning (got it for free by my uncle  ). And I have a couple of JVC tapes laying around. Now I have read hundreds of posts claiming that the panny MQ tapes are the best for the dvx, but do they really have better quality? I just don't want to start mixing tape brands after the cleaning, so my question is; What are the benefits from MQ tapes? Is it safe/just as good to use JVC 60min tapes as long as I stick to them?

The MQ tapes are just too damn hard to get where I live, and I can buy lots and lots of JVC tapes for like half the price here.

For $5-6 for an hour the MQ is pretty cheap. (From someone who shot Super-8 years ago at $20 for 3 minutes, non-sound)
Just order 5 or 10 at a time on the internet.
Soem cheap tapes have high levels of drop outs and more deposits on your head.
(Yes it worse if you mix tapes but since they use a different lubricant than recommended I'd be leary)
In the end is the loss of shots from drop outs and the price of a head cleaning worth the savings of using cheaper tapes?

I think as long as you use the same brand of tape all the time (whatever the brand), you'll be fine. Just don't mix-n-match. You'll gunk up the tape heads.

Well, before I got it cleaned I used JVC tapes all the time, it did not do any serious head wear, nor did I ever get a single drop out. And also, I get the cleaning for free...
