Jvc ls300

Ridiculos! I don´t think Panasonic told them that

Panasonic has foolishly left a blank space and JVC, intelligently, has occupied it and this was a good new for people that, like me, has invested a lot of money in M43 lenses. Now, with this firmware and the previous features, LS300 is really and without any doubt a big step over the AF100

Regards

GET YOUR OWN PLACE for JVC camera

Great news, appreciate the advance notice. Panasonic, please take note, this is how you earn customer loyalty.

I do wish this had come at launch though. JVCs marketing department seems a bit out of touch with today's trends doesn't it.

PHD

Nothing at all.....to do with the AF100 or Panasonic...!

At this point....this thread is really in the wrong part of the forum....

There is a sub forum for JVC cameras already..... It's called: other.other cameras

Cheers.....Tye

Sorry if I missed it in the thread, two big questions always asked is about are moire and rolling shutter. I did come across a comparison on YouTube between the ls300 and the gh4 rolling shutter.

http://youtu.be/f23mVa_kSNw

it would appear the ls 300 has about 1/2 the rolling shutter of the gh4 and the gh4 is one of the better cameras for rolling shutter. I have not been able to find any samples of the ls300s moire or lack there of.

The rolling shutter on the GH4 is much less pronounced at 1080p and gets more pronounced when you go in higher resolution. It's probably the same with the JVC. As far as I can tell, aside the crop factor and luminosity, both moire & sharpness look mostly the same on both devices.

This is would put the rolling shutter at aboutish 7ms in 4k. I don't know about how much line skipping is going on in the various sensor area resolution configurations, but it might be reasonable to expect in fhd s16 the rolling shutter would be aboutish 3 to 4 ms

Ok reality check slap my face, do I really need the bragging rights that I can say I have a camera that I can use every lens I own with. Slap my wrist, give my credit card to my wife to lock away till I come to my senses, I'm just a hobbyist.

Great news about the addition of histogram with the new update, this is looking more and more like my upgrade path when I finally let go of my AF101's :)

Okay, I agree that this conversation should be in another forum.. but the only people responding to the discussion are those like me, former AF100 lovers disappointed by the lack of a successor.

I've been using 2 BMPCC cameras and a C100 for my documentaries for several years after selling my AF. Consequently I have a s__tload of lenses that will work with this JVC (including old S16s).

I bought an LS-300 from B&H (with a Metabones EF adapter) as soon as it was available, but it was defective - looked as if it was stuck on ISO 6400 - ugly. So I sent it back and cancelled the order. I was totally put off by the flimsy feeling of the camera and the apparent lack of quality control.

Now I'm seeing footage that (contrary to some comments here) looks pretty damn good, and not displaying those ugly highlights that caused me to sell my AF (particularly the review above). I like my Pocket Cameras, but miss the "AF" style camera.

I'd like to hear more feedback from owners who have used it professionally - particularly if anyone else has had quality control issues, or feels that the camera is flimsy (Rick Young seems to think it's pretty solid). Thanks in advance.
