Well, I am finally heading off tomorrow afternoon to spend 2 months in Peru to shoot my documentary on shamanism. I just wanted to thank everyone here for your suggestions and advice regarding gear, settings, etc., it really helped me out a lot. I'm going to list what I'm taking, just in case someone else is interested in putting together a package.

Camera: why XH-A1 ,of course. (various ND filters, polarizer), 3 batteries
and Sony Hdr-HC7 - for IR capibilities
Canon Wide angle lens
VidLed Cool light with isreali arm (and lithium batt. that lasts 8 hrs. with light)

Tripod with manfrotto head
DV Multi-rig

Sound devices MixPre, AT4073A, AT835ST shotgun mics, DPA and countryman B6 wireless lavs, Sennheiser G2 system.

6 in 1 reflector kit., stand , Black wrap to jerry rig a psuedo-mattebox

and assorted odds and ends

All packed into a Porta Brace SZW3 which exactly meets carry-on specifications.

I'll post some images when I get the chance.

Adios,

Keith

Pictures are always great, especially when packing, traveling and shooting. Your package sounds great. Don't forget to bring the rabbit's foot...

You got me ! No, not the tripod, tripod head, or the dv rig. Not only that, but they wouldn´t let me carry on that bag (they said it was too big, it was definitley too heavy) so I convinced them to give me back my luggage and a frantically tranferred the most valuable stuff to my smaller pack, put a few things in an even smaller pack, and stuffed my large cargo pants pockets and jacket pockets with a few things! So I flew 2 flights lugging about 50 pounds worth of stuff on my person, then had to worm my way through customs which is another story. The adventure begins!
