Well I have all my old Sony equipment sold and was looking at jumping into a HVX200 :) but since they are releasing the new HPX170 do you guys think the prices will drop drastically or just a few hundred? because I may just wait until it comes out if I could save some money on this massive purchase it would be nice....or maybe more used ones willmake their way once that new camera comes out? should I wai tuntil Sept or doit now?????????

The price on what?

The price on the HVX200a will stay the same as it is out and HPX170 has different features.

So, if you need a HVX200a now, I don't believe you will see much if any price movement when the 170 is released.

It is suggested for September, but there is no assurance it will be released then

ya i know I may just buy a HVX200 not HVX200a buy the way whats the difference? I guess I will just start looking around for a month on here an ebay and if no sweet deals pop up I will just fork over the extra 600 and get on from spec-comm... man HD is expensive but should be worth the wait and now I can start shooting more stuff as well...

Buying on eBay is a risky venture for such an expensive product.

But that's your call; most would advise to avoid it.

thanks!

thanks!

Thanks guys great link gary:) I will probably wind up going through BH or spec-comm in the end I would feel better when I sleep at night knowing my camera hasen't been beat up on! but I had great luck with my VX from ebay? so? well see how the funds are in a couple week plus I have to buy that 16x9 fisheye for it seeing as I shoot alot of skateboarding...

Just the fact that you buy it on Ebay is not the risky part- it's WHO you
buy it from. Just like buying it on the 'net can be risky or not. Mine came
from Studio Exchange in CA who happened to have it advertised on Ebay.
I got a full factory warranty, legit camera at a great price.

Ebay's feedback system is great if used correctly. Thousands of good feedbacks don't lie. Makes it harder for unscrupulous companies to do business on Ebay than on the net in general. But of course, they somehow
manage.

You say tomato, and I say potato.

Risky means whom you buy from. What else is a variable?

There are a couple of authorized Panasonic's on eBay, but their prices are about the same as the Panasonic authorized you see noted here or even higher.

it would be dumb to buy a 200 when the 200a is SOOO much better in low light.

exactly SOOOO much better.... the low light improvement makes it just about perfect for the price tag

and let me recommend ablecine as the best place to buy one from... couldn't get any better customer service... very pleased on my two hvx purchase

and hopefully if your spending 6k on a camera you will be making enough money that saving a couple of hundred bucks won't matter much

i vote spec-comm. got my 200a from them back in april. the package i got from them cost less than b&h, and i got more (sc's battery, better filter to protect my lens).

if you pay with certified check spec-comm knocks off 2%.
