Just saw the Hot Rod top plate. VERY nice

anymore updates on this thing, I dont even see anything on their website?

Cine Gear is a great place for unveiling new products and getting feedback, and that's exactly what we did during those two days.

Information on the F3 Hot Rod, including prices and options is coming very soon.

I forgot to mention. If you like the custom F3 top handle, it's also going to be available for the FS100, along with 2x very cool features that were not shown at Cine Gear. The Hot Rod EVF mount shown during Cine Gear was in reality a rough prototype, the final version is much, much cooler!

I hope weight is a big concern in designing it. I love the feel of a real camera like the F3 with baseplate and FF and all of that but dont want to add too much more. I would also seriously think about what I was saying about the recorder mount on the side. It isnt practical to not be able to see your screen and what the recorder is up to.

I'm going to respectfully disagree.

If you a working in narrative production, the person who is operating the camera will most likely not want to be monitoring the recorder, or using it as their tool for framing.

It's great that those option exist in the Gemini, and if you really want to mount a Gemini for use as an eyepice, you could leave the entire right side of the camera un-modified. Although there are some other real benefits to other items that can be mounted in that space, like wireless receivers, batteries and transmitters. So I'd recommend the complete body mod. There's some increase in weight, but it's fairly negligable increase when compared to the weight of the rest of the camera.

If I'm shooting ENG that's true. But most of the run & gun stuff I shoot, they're happy with XDCAM-EX. And in anycase, I do alot of that on the PMW-EX3.

Now, narrative and music video work... if I'm running camera, I might pull my own focus (or not), but I'm going to have my data tech, or an AC manage the recorder. In alot of cases I don't even attach the recorder to the camera, I just run the tech an SDI cable.

Just depends how you use the camera...

nice!! in addition to the top handle, have you guys thought about a rosette handle for the side where the side grip mount is? for the FS100, that is...

Illya, dont forget an mount option to add a Pix240 SoundDeviceson side!

Sound Devices Pix series and AJA Ki Pro Mini are also compatible. There is a locking quick release that will also allow you to mount batteries or wireless receivers or an HD transmitter.

lol, is that a yes?

Perhaps ;-)

I'm so happy with how the FS100 accessory kit is turning out. In addition to the Hot Rod PL Tuner-S Kit (which started shipping this past week). There's also going to be several really cool ad-ons for the FS100, some of which can be shared directly with the F3 (and vice versa), all of which can be purchased a la carte (in a non-kit form).

F3 accessories (and mods) are shipping in July, pricing for the F3 Hot Rod are coming soon. Sorry that's not a definitive date, but it's the only one I can give at the moment.
