FS7: Just pulled the trigger on the FS7K

APR and Black Balance are two different functions but some cameras will perform APR during a Black Balance -- two in one.

A simple question for those who've been using their FS7 for a long time: is the LCD rotary receptacle for the rod clamp (not the screw clamp - the one integral with the monitor housing) solid enough for constant twisting, or does the monitor start to rotate by itself under the loupe weight after some time? So that the loupe doesn't hold in position any more, and needs constant readjustment? Yeah, I know it's silly - but just want to know whether I can swivel the screen without worries, to suit my needs...

Mine is still solid after one year of twisting around.

I have modified the mount for a few shooters that wanted a more robust solution. But for me it is still fine after a few hundred hrs on the 7...

Thanks Olof. I was afraid that to protect the LCD from wear, I'll need an extra monitor (which I will buy anyway - but a good one, which cannot be cheap so has to wait)... BTW, what do you think of the Lilliput brand? Their Q7 is full HD, and has WFM and all other aids one might need...

I don't know anything about Lilliput's current monitors.

I use an Odyssey 7Q+ when I need a small field monitor. I also have several SmallHD, Marshall and Ikan, they are all OK (except Ikan is pretty mediocre) the O7Q+ has fantastic scopes and even a very useful multi spot meter and you can use your own LUTs or any commercial ones to view or record in the O7Q+. Not to mention that it is also a great recorder. It matches my calibrated production eval monitor in my suite perfectly. But there are many new monitors coming out so demo the ones you are thinking about. The only one I really recommend is the Odyssey.
