"just like you"

Re: "just like you"

so any new projects coming up Rich? I want to see you use an xl2. I'm waiting for McDermitt to finish his video with the xl2. I know it'll be great. Man, i just love this video!

To get the mulitple thing i shot the same actors in passes and am doing roto in after effects to layer them in the same comp.

1st of all, great work!
I was wondering how you did the multi as well. I was hoping there was an easier way to have it so nice besides greenscreen. ROTO... eeep! fun times haha. I did a couple of roto tests before, with very little sleep of course.

Hey, Slinks, thanks for making this thread pop up on the new posts. Never would have seen it otherwise.

And, . . . WOW. Rich, I want to be just like you.

I am overwhelmed. Can't decide whether to toss my current project, or go for an Oscar. Thanks!

Oh Rich, one question. At 00:00:52 there is a shot where the 2 girls(multi) are both touching the singer and in the same time you are dolly'n in. How did you pull off such a hard task? I mean the singer wasn't exactly staying in one place. great job.

EDIT: actually i watched that lil segment about a few more times. And I actually realized only the woman on the left is the only 1 roto'd in I can see a little inperfections in it. I guess you just tried to do the dollies at the exact same speed. That is really hard to pull off. No one would notice that lil thing cept maybe nerds like me or maybe if it was projected. anyhow I still love it and it definately inspires a lot of us.

lpcvideo1: haha your welcome :cheesy:

I hate to sound like a broken record that just seems to chime in on the "back patting parade" but man that was good! I have had the great fortune of being a part of some truly amazing DVX stuff and this is just breathtaking. Great pacing, Great color work (I find it hard to believe you used magic bullet for that, what did you use? Final Touch?) great CG work, set design, costmues, the works. A truly first rate vid. What was the budget on that?

Anyway keep it up, fantastic stuff.

Ahh the ever pressing "performance" aspect of the video. There is deff. room to sneak it in, though hardly more then 25%. and ofcourse some wonderful shots will be lost. I see the band in one location, lots of tilts and pans onto them. few second punch ins here and there would have it. I would still finish this vid and let whomever they go with see it though, it is strong on its own. Great work!

Screw the performance aspect. I wouldn't change a thing. Seriously Tizzy, how would a performance section improve this video? I think far to many videos throw in the performance part, just because they think its obligitory, or because the band needs the ego stroked. My music video philosophy is to never include performance unless it provides a narrative or asthetic angle. I.E. The performance is part of the concept. (Red Hot Chile Peppers - Otherside, Offspring - Get a Job, White Stripes - Hardest Button to Button) Any video that cuts between A roll (performance) and B roll (story) without a certain cohesivness between the two is mearly an exercise in mediocre, typical MTV video. A video on the level of this one (Just Like You), should never be brought down to common denometer.

Not a big fan of music videos but this one I really enjoyed and the music as well .very nice.
Not sure if i missed it or not ...do they have a CD out ?...Ian

I saw this video when Rich first posted it here but I just realized I never told him how much I loved it. I have it saved to my hard drive and I always use it to show people the potential of the DVX. Simply amazing stuff!

Holy cow. That looked amazing. AMAZING. Did I say it looked amazing? Makes me want to go out and improve my game by 1000%. Wow. Just wow.

you can check out the bands website/myspace for new tracks...

im talking to the guys about doing some cool images for their new album, as well as another vid.

someday i will make another video...this video helped me out alot in hooking up with a production company called DNA www.dnala.com. been trying to get some vids going with them...ive written a bunch of treatments and have come close to getting vids, but its hard only having one video to my name, especialy when im competing against guys with 10 or 20 high end videos. the production company is very supportive, the guys there are awesome and tell me to hang in there...we shall see...

EDIT: whats up with only 981 views? this thread used to have tons more! something happen when the server changed? sheeeeett!!!!:cheesy:

You've been praised a million times but I've got to give you my WOW! That's as professional as it gets, and on a DVX, nothing's impossible now. You've given me a big kick in the ass, thanks Rich. I can dream bigger now as I see what can be done with it. You da man. The only thing I would not have done in the video is put any makeup on her/him (where the bandages come off). Kind of funny he gets the bandages removed and he's already wearing makeup. What kind of surgeons do we have here, they reconfigure his face, apply tons of makeup and then put on the bandages. LOL. She's so hot she wouldn't need makeup anyway. It would be more realistic without makeup but I guess I'm being too realistic as it is a rock video afterall. Babe's gotta be as hot as possible, I know.

I believe Rich states his budget was around 5k? i may be wrong but its somewhere on this thread.
