Re: "just like you"

great work!!! reminds me of a chris cunningham video. thats one of the better videos i have seen ,not just on this site but anywhere. was wondering if you could tell me how you did the film speeding up and coming off the reel effect at the end ?

Re: "just like you"

Hate to say it but the song really reminds me of "Just" by Radiohead (from the album The Bends). Not a bad thing, but they are awfully similar.

Re: "just like you"

Besides gaveling at your feet which is my natural reaction,
I would very much like to know what you used to make that film strip look at the end of the video.

Meca Thanks,
Justin

I read this whole thread today and that answer is back in there somewhere (EDIT: page 6) -- short answer is he did it manually in AE.

Rich, if I knew anything about vfx, I might have a technical question for you, but since I don't, I was just wondering how you met the band and got to make the video?  Did you start seeing the video in your head shortly after you heard the song?

Here you go Justin...

[quote author=Rich Lee link=board=Clips;num=1094613474;start=75#79 date=10/17/04 at 16:08:08]thanks watson. i hand animated the projector look in after effects. im sure there are filters that do it though. all i did was bring that shot into a comp with the audio, and animated it going up and down to the music. then added motion blur...then i duplicated that piece 4 times without the animation and placed them one above the other and parented them to the original. this way they moved with the original one i animated and whenever the original went out of frame there was another one there to take its place...i then overlayed some text and fringe on the boarders. Gabe - the guy who ran sales for the company i used to work for was room mates with one of the band members. he knew i was anxious to do a video so he told them about me. they gave me a cd of their tracks and i picked one out that i liked. and just kept listening over and over. it didnt take long to get the concept...maybe half a day or so. almost right away i started seeing shots. it took forever to the damn video started though, the guys were in san fran, and our limited cash didnt make for many options as far as getting locations. anyway it turned out alright...still not totaly like i wanted...but its close...fun stuff...

IncMedia - thanks!
