Anthony- thanks man. your working on a video yeah? i remember some super cool stills you took of a bridge that i thought looked like something out of akira or ghost in the shell. peace.

Rob- I made a little intercom out of a phone and a small thin speaker then i tracked the edges of the speaker/monitor in after effects to a piece of footage with the guys face. I used Mesh Warp to match the perspective of the video footage to the BG. Then i added some glow. Let me know if that helps. i will email you in a bit.

unix-sorry man, its taken awhile. just shot the rest of the video last friday. Editing now. Should have something by the end of the month. I have a rough cut of the whole video. but without a bunch of fx work in yet, it just wouldnt make sence to anyone. as it is, i hope that even with the fx done it will makes sence :-/ we shall see...

i leardid after fx on the job and just messing around ALOT at home. i first got into it when i had to composite cg elements that we would make for videos and whatnot. then i got a xl1s and would shoot little things and then screw around with it in AE.

I'll let you know when i get the video closer.

Found your movie "Precursor" (which I thought was awesome) on triggerstreet, then someone told me you were a member here.

I would like to see this video everybody is talking about but it's not available on your website. Is there any other way to see it.

Also, if you have some time, could you give me some more specific technical information on how you got the look for "Precursor"? Thanks.

hey c.g. eads...yeah, im still finishing that video...its become ****ing epic! its taking me FOREVER. and its probly going to kinda suck... :-/


anyway...

yah, precursor. all xl1s in frame mode with available light, and heavy processing with AE. i will look to see if i have any grabs of the footage before i treated it. looks alot like xl2 footage.
shoot me off an email if you have any specific questions aboot it...

I'm a first time poster, long time reader. I recently purchased a DVX100 camera and, can only hope, the footage I shoot looks as good as yours. Great stuff!

I'm sure, sometime in the near future, we'll all be able to say, "I remember Rich Lee when...."

Hey guys. heres the latest version of the entire buckfast video. Its still in progress. but its getting close. i have a few minor changes to make.

Do you guys like the shakyness? is it distracting?...im kinda on the fence about it.

ps. dont mind the dvx siting in one of the shots. it will be taken out soon. also there is a really dodgy cg head bandaged tracked into a shot...ignore it! it will be better!

just watched the entire thing and was blown away. The only things i picked up on was a scene where the roto on the male actors looked dodgy, and the Cg bandages that you already pointed out.
Very cool video. I knew what was going on the entire time, just wasn't sure which one he wanted to be "just like" You seem to be a one man production co. pre-viz, directing , editing and post work, along with doing some CG. damn!!! BTW, I read that you use XSI, i'd get into it if i could get my head around the UI, for now I'm using 3ds max and looking forward to the version 7 release. Anyway, great work, and I'm sure the band will impressed. Keep it up!

Rich, totally kick ass! The color is so cool, did that involve multiple overlays? I'm sure Buckfast will be more than pleased and forever in your debt.

seantree- 3d max with mental ray should be killer. mental ray is bitchin!

donbarzini-do you mean mulitple overlays for the color correction? i used magic bullet for this one. it works pretty well.

ah, yes, i used the bleach bypass setting in MB.

btw. the main guy from the band just saw it and totaly dug it! hes going to show it around to the rest of the band and to their producer and marketing guys. so im just going to make the few changes i need to make and do the vfx clean up.

hey i loved it, best thing i have ever seen on here. got a question. At the very end when the frame flips up and down (like on a projector), how did you do that? was it a filter? if so, which one if you dont mind me asking, i've been looking for something to do that with for a little while. thanks

thanks watson. i hand animated the projector look in after effects. im sure there are filters that do it though. all i did was bring that shot into a comp with the audio, and animated it going up and down to the music. then added motion blur...then i duplicated that piece 4 times without the animation and placed them one above the other and parented them to the original. this way they moved with the original one i animated and whenever the original went out of frame there was another one there to take its place...i then overlayed some text and fringe on the boarders.
