The F3 gets you pretty darn close to and you can pick one up for less than the cost of a C100 these days.
Yeah a 2nd hand F3 is definitely on my radar. It certainly has the high DR and low light capability that I need.

I don't have numbers at hand now, but the F5 sensor is the same size as the FS-700.

The Alan Roberts test doesn't explicitly report a measured resolution but states "the native resolution of the camera does not reach the limits of the 1920x1080 format" p.10.

P.S. Reading between the lines (possibly incorrectly), the report estimates the native sensor resolution at 4800x2700 (p.12), which the camera down-scales to 2200x1238 (p.9) and then de-Bayers to a 1080p frame (p.10) with roughly 1238 * 0.7 = 867 lines of measured resolution.
I think everyone is pining for that creamy, majestic cinematic look that you pretty much automatically get when pulling an Alexa out of it's box, locking down, pointing and shooting a properly lit subject.
So I looked up on imdb and found that Downtown Abbey used an Arriflex film camera the first season and then switched over to an Alexa the second season. When I found this out, I was really excited to see the differences. I imagined the Alexa would somehow even be better than film from all I had heard about it.
I am almost positive that Downton Abbey was shot D21
Does it say why my wife forces me to watch it?American Cinematographer - March 2012 answers all the questions you might have on Downton Abbey.
Just for you Carlos:There is definitely some serious talent on that show. I wish I knew more about what the practical realities are - how they do interiors for example. How many stages do they have or do they have to shoot mainly on location? Shooting in a historical landmark is slow and restrictive. All the more reason to choose a very forgiving camera system.
LOL!Does it say why my wife forces me to watch it?
LOL!
Well it might compensate her for sitting through endless camera tests.
"just one more overexposure Darling"
Oh you mean like that professional production of the girl crying in the field of flowers?
Maybe they are targeting the run and gun indie market. haha.Still dont understand why they put most of the controls on the operator side of the camera, including the headphone jack.
Thats what happens when engineers dont talk to the end operator.
