Just got my HMC150 today, but will it work with FCP7 out of the box.

Just wondering. If my school has final cut pro 7, Will I have to update anything or download plugins to get the footage to show up and edit it? I will not be able to download software on my schools computer.
 
First, congrats on the cam. Second, the camera should work fine with FCP7 with no additions, just remember to use "log and transfer" when importing. Good luck.
 
You are going to have to transcode to pro res or pro res HQ.

Assuming you have a MacPro, not a iMac, I would recommend internal SATA drive as a media drive.
 
The transcoding will take place during 'Log and Transfer', though you will need to choose the codec. I use regular ProRes. Note that there are still bugs with Log and Transfer, so FCP 7 updates will be useful. You'll also need a lot of drive space, be prepared.
